XBOX 360 being held back at local Wal-Mart

I now have an xbox 360 (core system) which I purchased today in Lewistown, PA . When I bought it, there were 2 other ones behind the counter. After a manager discovered this, they told the clerks that they were not supposed to be selling those. The clerk responded with "Why not, there is a whole stack in the back?", the manager then said they weren't supposed to sell them until January - something about them being dated for sale then. The other two units they had were then taken away by the manager.

Why? Is this coming from Microsoft or the local Walmart? Anyone else come across units being held back at local retailers?

Thanks,
Ray

Correction for the show: Hollye humbly admits that she mistakenly corrected Ray during the show, advising him that he should use the term “unsecure” and not “insecure” when referring to network security. However, “unsecure” is not a word. She offers her sincere apologies. Grammar is one of Hollye’s strengths, and one of Ray’s weaknesses. Thus, Ray quickly accepted Hollye’s grammar corrections.

Video for your iPod

Here it is - Video for your iPod!
The video formatted for your ipod has been done for days, but I finally got around to uploading it to the server.

Let me know what you think! This version has better audio and effects but the overall quality of the video is worse (IMO).

A new show will hopefully be recorded tomorrow, not sure when it will make it up, there may be back to back releases of shows this weekend.

Thanks,
Ray

VidCast

We will have a slight delay on the next show.

However, here is the first video of the show(in wmv)! A video ipod version will be available some time tomorrow evening, along with some additional content recorded at the end of the show, that is only available via video.

I edited the video using windows movie maker for the .wmv file and iMovie for the .mp4 file. I will discuss the various experiences of these two methods on the next show.

Video

I cleaned up the comments and turned on the word filter, so there should be less 'spam' on here from now on - sorry for the inconvenience.

I am going to work on the video tonight. Depending on how well it goes, it might be ready as early as tomorrow, or as late as next weekend. We have already had several requests for exactly when the video will be out, so there is some demand.

Thanks,

Ray

*We have set up a del.icio.us bookmarks account to share with our listeners. As many of our listeners are teachers, this is a place where we can share helpful links with one another.

Username: tttshare

Password: thetechteachers

This takes you to the “About” page. You can always bookmark a link by clicking on “post” at the top right of this page, but adding a bookmarklet (a link) to your browser will allow you to bookmark any page you are viewing, simply by clicking a button in your browser. There are very simple instructions for installing bookmarklets on this main page.

When you bookmark a link, you add tags in the account. Tags are one-word descriptors that you can assign to any bookmark. Tags can't contain quotation marks or white space, but are otherwise unrestricted. You can assign as many tags to a bookmark as you like. This is an interesting way of organizing all of the links, so that a link could appear in multiple categories.

Welcome Itunes Users!

Our podcast can now be found through the Itunes podcast directory. There are still a few kinks to be worked out, including getting the picture/artwork to display. As a quick intro for the new listeners, episodes 2 and 3 feature both of us. Show 1 is more of a test than anything else.

Show 4 is coming late tonight/early tomorrow... stay tuned and thanks for checking out The Tech Teachers!

If you don't have podcast software I recommend doppler (a free windows program) or ipodderx for the Mac.

The old feed at rahs is no longer valid, thank you.

Show 2

Show #2 is much longer, a little too long actually. It has both of us and covers the PSP, the ipod Shuffle, gps, and several education topics among other things.

The next show will be shorter and we will add in some sound effects and transitions. Topics to look foward to include everything Google related and the use of smartboards in the classroom.
